Your notes, people and photos
Edit or delete a note, a person or a person’s photo in the app. The change reaches your OldMate account, and your other devices, at the next catch-up. Backup is always on while you’re signed in; to remove everything OldMate holds, delete your account. A device backup you manage yourself, such as iCloud, may keep an older copy until it expires.
AI, the microphone and the camera
OldMate asks your permission before sending anything to its AI providers (Privacy Policy, section 2). To withdraw it, delete your account. That stops new requests but can’t recall ones already sent.
The microphone and camera are controlled in your phone’s or browser’s settings. Choosing a photo from your library needs no permission, and OldMate only sees the photo you pick.
Reminders
Choose how and when reminders reach you at Settings → Reminders on your phone or in the browser app: by notification, email or both, or in the app only, the morning time, and whether notifications show the person and the promise. To stop notifications, turn them off for OldMate in your phone’s settings. Every reminder email has a Stop reminder emails link, and the Sunday email has Stop the week ahead; each works at once.
Delete your OldMate account
Use Settings → Delete account. This removes your account and everything stored in it, from our servers and from the device you’re using. You can also request account deletion by email without the app. Never send us a password or sign-in code.
Analytics in the apps
On your phone, turn usage and error reports off at Settings → Usage reports. In the browser app, use Settings → Analytics and Settings → Advertising choice. Turning either off stops new reports from that device or browser; deleting your account asks PostHog to remove what’s linked to it.
Website analytics
Website analytics are on until you turn them off below. Visitors from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked first on the banner. Turning them off stops collection on this browser and discards its anonymous identifier; it doesn’t change the apps’ own settings.
Website ad measurement
Ad measurement on this website is on until you turn it off here. It lets Meta see which ads bring visitors, as the Privacy Policy describes. It’s separate from the browser app’s choice and from website analytics.
Access, correction, or complaint
Email privacy@askoldmate.com, and tell us the right you want to use. We may need to check that you control the account first. Please don’t send a password, a recording or someone else’s private information.
